Dan Solberg, an interdisciplinary artist, curator, educator and freelance writer/designer, situates Meg Mitchell's exhibition, A FRAGILE UNFOLDING, within the larger spectrum of videogames and art-that-can-be-understood-as-having-something-to-do-with-games.
UPCOMING PROGRAM
World Building with Gwenda Bond
Saturday, March 28 | 1:30 to 3:00 PM
Gwneda Bond, a New York Times bestselling author and co-founder of the Lexington Writer’s Room, leads a creative writing workshop inspired by Meg Mitchell’s exhibition A FRAGILE UNFOLDING. This interactive session explores the process of constructing an imaginary world or setting to support a fictional story.
2nd Story is an exhibition space in Lexington, Kentucky that presents curatorial projects and public programs.
Founded on the values of curatorial freedom, artistic experimentation, and open dialogue, we challenge exhibiting artists to take risks in creating new work and encourage the public to embrace all forms of contemporary art practices.
By fostering rigorous acts of making and generative ways of engaging, we hope to stimulate expansive approaches to thinking.
CURRENT EXHIBITION
MEG MITCHELL:
A FRAGILE UNFOLDING
A FRAGILE UNFOLDING presents a digital environment embedded within a physical installation that partially mirrors it. The reverberations between the simulated and the real invite critical thinking about how the mechanics and affective qualities of the digital space (isolation, existential questioning, and illusions of progress that undermine one's autonomy), hint at broader systems of power and control that shape everyday life.
CURRENT EXHIBITION
GNATLAND: NEON ORGANISMS OF THE NEW AGE
A Bridge Work Exhibition with Morgan Hardigree and Jason Kash
GNATLAND brings together Morgan Hardigree’s neon-drenched worlds and Jason Kash’s biomorphic assemblages to explore transformation as both a personal and material process.
This exhibition is part of 2nd Story’s Bridge Work program, a professional development fellowship for emerging artists.
